Neutrinos are the most abundant known massive particles in the Universe, and their study has brought to light a range of interesting phenomena. Among these, neutrino flavour oscillations provide key evidence of physics beyond the Standard Model, demonstrating that neutrinos are light, yet massive particles. Within the experimental program dedicated to understanding neutrino nature and mass ordering, the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will play a central role. DUNE is a next-generation long-baseline experiment employing a high-intensity neutrino beam produced at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and directed to a liquid-argon-based underground detector at Sanford Underground Research Facility. Comparing neutrino events measured at near and far sites will allow precision measurements of the CP-violating phase in the lepton sector and neutrino mass ordering, thanks to the matter effect. The near detector complex is essential, providing precise measurements of the un-oscillated neutrino flux and constraining systematic uncertainties. It comprises three detectors. System for on-Axis Neutrino Detection serves as the primary beam monitor and features a magnetised detector with a high-resolution tracker, electromagnetic calorimeter, and a one-tonne liquid-argon cryostat instrumented with photodetectors and innovative imaging devices. GRanular Argon for Interactions of Neutrinos (GRAIN) will also measure the total energy released in the medium and provide a time reference for each event. Two technologies are explored for GRAIN’s imaging element: coded aperture masks and lenses. While a first prototype of a lens-based optical detector has been tested and characterised, and a preliminary version of the software for the event reconstruction with traditional methods exists, the aim of this thesis is to explore the application of Machine Learning techniques to the spatial reconstruction of particle interactions in GRAIN.en_UK
