This paper aims to demonstrate how a structure such as the brain—long considered static and purely physical—is actually susceptible to changes brought about by something intangible: psychotherapy. Beginning with a description of the microscopic mechanisms underlying the functioning of this complex structure, the techniques used to uncover these mechanisms will be outlined. The paper will then illustrate the morphological, structural, and functional changes occurring in an experiencing brain, drawing particularly on the landmark findings of Eric Kandel and his colleagues. Furthermore, scientific studies and evidence demonstrating brain changes associated with specific therapeutic models and clinical conditions will be examined. Finally, it will conclude with reflections on the clinical implications, current limitations, and potential directions for future research.en_UK
