The dissertation addresses the issue of aggression towards social workers, considering it a widespread, alarming and often underestimated phenomenon. The study therefore analyses this phenomenon by examining its main characteristics and the forms in which it manifests itself within social services. It also explores the consequences that violent incidents may have on social workers and how they manage aggressive situations in the course of their professional duties. The dissertation then focuses primarily on professional supervision and continuing professional education for social workers, examining how these tools can be used to prevent and address the phenomenon. Throughout the study, the two professional tools are analysed in terms of their definitions and characteristics, before exploring their role in preventing and managing aggression towards professionals. In particular, with regard to continuing professional education, concrete examples of training activities addressing this issue within specific social services are presented. Finally, the dissertation examines the role played by professional institutions in relation to this issue, specifically the CNOAS (National Council of the Order of Social Workers) and SUNAS (United Trade Union of Social Workers), focusing on how they address the phenomenon and the positions they adopt. This final section also includes the contribution of the President of the Ligurian branch of the trade union, who was interviewed specifically on the subject.en_UK
