This dissertation examines the documentary Rodoretto: vivere, partire, tornare (2026), devoted to a mountain hamlet in Val Germanasca, north-western Italy, now almost entirely depopulated, and assesses whether it can be extended within a model of integrated multimedia information. The first part reconstructs documentary film as a form of information, considering its relationship with reality, narrative and memory, and distinguishes the notions of multimediality, crossmediality and transmediality. The second part analyses the project itself: its structure, built on three generations of the same family — those who lived in the hamlet, those who left it, those who return — together with the production conditions and the choices concerning interviews, 8 mm archival footage, editing and soundtrack. The final part evaluates the film's circulation on the basis of platform data gathered during the first nineteen days after publication. Three findings emerge: distribution depended almost entirely on the local community relaying the link; the audience actually reached is aged over fifty-five, whereas the intended audience had been assumed to be considerably younger; and the use of tracks without synchronisation licences, while not preventing online publication, rules out access to festival and broadcast circuits. The study concludes that the documentary remains a linear, single-channel product, and that the multiplatform ecosystem discussed here constitutes a design proposal rather than an achieved outcome. It identifies the conditions for its feasibility, beginning with the cataloguing of the family archive, and situates the project within the wider question of how inner areas are narrated, at a time when recent surveys record a partial return towards mountain territories.en_UK
