Mogli avvelenatrici e mariti violenti in antico regime

Abstract

La tesi analizza in prospettiva storico-giuridica il reato di veneficio, focalizzandosi sulla sua evoluzione normativa e sul suo intreccio con l’istituto matrimoniale. In particolare, ci si soffermerà su un caso emblematico avvenuto nella Roma del Seicento, riguardante la produzione di un tossico, noto come “acqua tofana”, utilizzato come rimedio dalla donne per liberarsi di mariti violenti.

From a historical-legal perspective, this thesis analyzes the crime of poisoning, focusing on its legal evolution and its intertwining with the institution of marriage. In particular, it focuses on a case that occurred in Rome in the seventeenth-century, involving the production of a toxic, known as “acqua tofana”, which was used by women as a remedy to rid themselves of violent husbands.
