Le strategie di resistenza delle donne musulmane al discorso d'odio.

Abstract

Il tema di questa tesi riguarda il fenomeno del linguaggio discriminatorio nei confronti delle donne musulmane. Nello specifico, analizzerò il linguaggio islamofobo contro le donne musulmane nel contesto italiano e le strategie per contrastarlo. Gli obiettivi di questa tesi vogliono esplorare le pratiche e le strategie discorsive che si oppongono all'incitamento all'odio, perché possono essere efficaci e come si manifestano. Allo stesso modo, vorrei smontare gli stereotipi e le idee discriminatorie che si sono sviluppate intorno all'Islam e alle persone musulmane, al fine di promuovere una visione più realistica e meno discriminatoria della questione. Pertanto, gli obiettivi di questa tesi sono i seguenti: raccogliere i discorsi islamofobi presenti sul web; compilare e catalogare le reazioni e le strategie discorsive che si sono opposte all'incitamento all'odio; e, infine, cercare di comprendere come si possa combattere l'intolleranza per proporre un modello alternativo. Vorrei quindi promuovere e diffondere una narrazione diversa, basata sul riconoscimento delle differenze culturali, sul rispetto per gli altri e sul dialogo. A conclusione di questa introduzione, riporto la struttura della tesi al fine di offrire una visione più completa del lavoro: nel primo capitolo, esplorerò i principali concetti teorici su cui si basa la ricerca, ovvero il concetto di incitamento all'odio, la nozione di islamofobia, il sessismo, l'intersezionalità e, infine, le principali teorie pragmatiche utili all'analisi dello studio. Inoltre, ampio spazio sarà dedicato alle contronarrazioni all'incitamento all'odio. Successivamente, nel secondo capitolo, presenterò la metodologia e il corpus digitale che ho utilizzato per sviluppare questo lavoro. Il terzo capitolo sarà dedicato all'analisi qualitativa e quantitativa sia dei commenti islamofobi sia delle contronarrazioni. Infine, nel quarto capitolo presenterò le conclusioni generali del lavoro e le mie considerazioni personali.

The topic of this thesis is related to the phenomenon of discriminatory language against Muslim women. Specifically, I will analyze Islamophobic language against Muslim women in the Italian context, and the strategies to counter it. The objectives of this thesis are to discover and to explore the discursive practices and strategies that oppose hate speech, why they can be effective, and how they manifest themselves. Likewise, I would like to dismantle the stereotypes and hateful ideas that have developed around Islam and Muslim people in order to promote a more realistic and less discriminatory view of the issue. Therefore, the objectives of this thesis are as follows: to collect Islamophobic discourses present on the Web; to compile and catalog the reactions and discursive strategies that oppose hate speech; and, finally, to try to understand how intolerance can be combated and at the end, propose an alternative model. So I would like to promote and disseminate a different narrative based on the recognition of cultural differences, respect for others, and dialogue. To conclude this preamble, I will now outline the structure of the thesis in order to offer a more complete view of the work: in the first chapter, I will explore the main theoretical concepts on which the research is based, namely the concept of hate speech, the notion of Islamophobia, sexism, intersectionality, and finally, the main pragmatic theories useful for the analysis of the study. In addition, considerable space will be dedicated to counter-narratives to hate speech. Next, in the second chapter, I will present the methodological guidelines and the digital corpus I used to develop this work. The third chapter will be dedicated to the qualitative and quantitative analysis of both the Islamophobic comments and the counter-narratives used by the women. At the end, in the fourth chapter I will present the general conclusions of the work and my personal considerations.
