D'Annunzio e l'edizione illustrata di Isaotta Guttadàuro (1886)

Abstract

Il rapporto tra Gabriele D’Annunzio e le arti figurative del suo tempo appare molto ampio e complesso. In questo elaborato lo si affronta tramite lo studio e l’analisi di un’opera specifica dell’autore, l’Isaotta Guttadàuro. Si tratta di un volume realizzato durante il soggiorno romano del poeta. In un clima di lusso e fama, D’Annunzio entra in contatto con il preraffaellismo inglese e con l’associazione In Artes Libertas, costituita da artisti e intellettuali. I membri dell’associazione e D’annunzio hanno in comune la volontà di realizzare un’opera raffinata che unisce poesia e pittura; realizzano così l’Isaotta Guttadàuro, composta da ventidue tavole e settantacinque componimenti in relazione tra loro. Gli artisti nonostante aderiscono a tendenze diverse, danno origine a illustrazioni che si legano al testo di D’Annunzio e che sono accomunate da un gusto preraffaellita.

The relationship between Gabriele D'Annunzio and the figurative arts of his time appears very broad and complex. This paper addresses it through the study and analysis of a specific work by the author, Isaotta Guttadàuro. This is a volume created during the poet's stay in Rome. In a climate of luxury and fame, D'Annunzio came into contact with English Pre-Raphaelitism and the In Artes Libertas association, made up of artists and intellectuals. The association's members and D'Annunzio shared a desire to create a refined work that combines poetry and painting; thus, they created the Isaotta Guttadàuro, composed of twenty-two plates and seventy-five related compositions. The artists, despite adhering to different trends, give rise to illustrations that are linked to D'Annunzio's text and which share a Pre-Raphaelite taste.
