"Artisti in piazza": storia, poetica e progettazione del Festival di Pennabilli.

Abstract

“Pennabilli città amica degli artisti di strada” in questa frase è racchiusa l’identità poetica, artistica e politica di Artisti in Piazza, il Festival internazionale di arti performative che si svolge a Pennabilli dal 1997. La presente tesi “Artisti in piazza”: storia, poetica e progettazione del Festival di Pennabilli” analizza l'evoluzione dell’evento, dalla poetica performativa ai processi economici e amministrativi. L’indagine comincia con un excursus sul teatro del Novecento, focalizzandosi sul concetto di spazio pubblico come luogo simbolo di libertà e partecipazione; per poi entrare nel merito del caso studio affrontando l’evoluzione del Festival e illustrando la filosofia iniziale dell’Associazione Ultimo Punto e il suo legame simbiotico con la comunità locale. Si prosegue con un approfondimento sulla costruzione del cartellone, con particolare enfasi sulla tipologia di artisti, artiste e compagnie accolte negli anni; inoltre, si analizzano il rapporto del Festival con le associazioni del territorio e le strategie di promozione e comunicazione. Lo studio esamina, poi, gli aspetti economici, categorizzando entrate e uscite e valutando l’incidenza dei contributi pubblici, per concludersi con un focus sulle politiche green, interpretate come strumenti di cittadinanza attiva e di educazione civica. Adottando una metodologia che unisce ricerca d’archivio e fonti orali – tramite interviste svolte sul campo – la tesi documenta un’esperienza artistica – e umana – ancora poco indagata accademicamente. Pennabilli emerge come un ecosistema di sperimentazione performativa e di cura collettiva; un’esperienza di multidisciplinarietà e di convivenza interculturale. La tesi interpreta, infine, Artisti in Piazza come un esempio di impeccabile sostenibilità integrale: un modello in cui l'estetica della performance si fonde con l'etica ambientale, economica e sociale.

The investigation begins with an overview of twentieth-century street theatre, focusing on the concept of public space as a symbolic site of freedom and participation. It then delves into the case study, tracing the festival's evolution and illustrating the founding philosophy of the Ultimo Punto Cultural Association and its symbiotic bond with the local community. The study proceeds with an in-depth look at the curation of the program, with particular emphasis on the types of artists and companies hosted over the years; furthermore, it examines the festival's relationship with local organizations and its promotion and communication strategies. The research then explores the economic aspects, categorizing income and expenditures and assessing the impact of public funding, concluding with a focus on green policies interpreted as tools for active citizenship and civic education. Adopting a methodology that combines archival research with oral sources - through field interviews - the thesis documents an artistic and human experience that remains under-studied in academia. Pennabilli emerges as an ecosystem of performative experimentation and collective care: an experience of multidisciplinarity and intercultural coexistence. Finally, the thesis interprets Artisti in Piazza as an exemplary model of integral sustainability, where the aesthetics of performance merge seamlessly with environmental, economic, and social ethics.
