La storia della filosofia oltre lo storicismo in Italia nella seconda metà del Novecento

Abstract

Questo lavoro nasce a seguito dell’interesse, sviluppato durante la carriera universitaria, riguardo le differenti linee evolutive di pensiero della storia della filosofia in Italia, dopo la fine della Seconda guerra mondiale. A seguito del distacco dal neo-idealismo e nel contesto della caduta del fascismo, il pensiero filosofico trova riferimenti in numerose correnti della storia filosofica. Il panorama non rimane più legato all’interno della Penisola, ma riflette sulle proprie radici interessandosi a suggestioni americane ed europee. La tesi si articola in tre macroaree. La prima parte si concentra sull’idealismo hegeliano e sullo sviluppo del neo-idealismo crociano. La seconda parte, invece, volge l’attenzione verso tre filosofi, Karl Wilhelm von Humboldt, Wilhelm Dilthey e Arthur Oncken Lovejoy, che sono stati scelti in questo elaborato per il loro lavoro storicistico alternativo dalla concezione hegeliana. Infine, l’ultima parte, quella centrale, si focalizza su sei filosofi italiani, Eugenio Garin, Mario Dal Pra, Pietro Piovani, Fulvio Tessitore, Giuseppe Cacciatore e Gregorio Piaia che, a seguito dell’influenza dei tre filosofi ottocenteschi, cercano di elaborare una propria concezione storica della filosofia. In questa sezione valuterò quanto l’influenza dello storicismo sia ancora presente e quanto venga in effetti superato. A seguito di questa osservazione il lavoro qui presentato elabora un percorso all’interno della storiografia filosofica italiana dopo la fine della Seconda guerra mondiale per individuare quelle prospettive innovative che hanno cercato di inserirsi in un ambiente decisamente connotato.

This work stems from an interest developed during my university career in the different evolutionary lines of thought in the history of philosophy in Italy after the end Second World War. Following the departure from neo-idealism and in the context of the fall of fascism, philosophical thought found references in numerous currents of philosophical history. The landscape was no longer confined to the Italian peninsula, but reflected on its roots, drawing on American and European influences. The thesis is divided into three main areas. The first part focuses on Hegelian idealism and development of Crocean neo-idealism. The second part, on the other hand, turns its attention to three philosophers, Karl Wilhelm von Humboldt, Wilhelm Dilthey and Arthur Oncken Lovejoy, who were chosen for this paper because of their historicist work, which was alternative to the Hegelian conception. Finally, the last and central part focuses on six Italian philosophers, Eugenio Garin, Mario Dal Pra, Pietro Piovani, Fulvio Tessitore, Giuseppe Cacciatore and Gregorio Piaia, who, following the influence of the three nineteenth-century philosophers, sought to develop their own historical conception of philosophy. In this section, I will assess the extent to which the influence of historicism is still present and how much it has in fact been superseded. Following this observation, the work presented here traces a path through Italian philosophical historiography after the end of the Second World War to identify those innovative perspectives that have sought to insert themselves into a decidedly connoted environment.
