Dal palcoscenico al Grande Schermo: mito e divismo nei biopic musicali

Abstract

Il presente elaborato si pone l’obiettivo di studiare la costruzione dello stardom e del divismo all’interno dei biopic musicali contemporanei, individuando le macrotematiche nelle quali essi vengono sviluppati nella trasmissione della personalità dell’artista protagonista. Il primo capitolo della corrente tesi andrà a considerare le strategie narrative scelte per la trasmissione della portata divistica dei film e la proposta attoriale, che vede spesso interessanti trasformazioni, concentrandosi anche su inconsuete scelte nel cast, come il caso dell’interpretazione offerta da Angelina Jolie per Maria Callas in "Maria" di Larraín (2024). Successivamente, l’attenzione verrà posta sul ruolo del “gossip” e della rappresentazione dell’ordinarietà come manifestazione dell’umanità appartenente alle star e, talvolta, come giustificazione stessa di determinate scelte di vita e/o prese di posizioni. Infine, l’ultimo capitolo si concentrerà sulle diverse forme commemorative proposte a conclusione dei film, andando a ricercarne le strutture più ricorrenti e le intenzioni che si nascondono dietro ad esse.

This paper aims to study the construction of stardom and celebrity within contemporary musical biopics, identifying the main themes in which they are developed in conveying the personality of the artist protagonist. The first chapter of this thesis will consider the narrative strategies chosen to convey the star power of the films and the acting approach, which often involves interesting transformations, also focusing on unusual casting choices, such as Angelina Jolie's portrayal of Maria Callas in "Maria" by Larraín (2024). Subsequently, attention will be given to the role of "gossip" and the depiction of ordinariness as a manifestation of the humanity of stars and, at times, as justification for certain life choices and/or stances. Finally, the last chapter will focus on the different commemorative forms presented at the end of films, examining the most recurring structures and the intentions behind them.
