Il coworking: origine, caratteristiche e prospettive evolutive. Un approfondimento sul territorio genovese.

Abstract

Questa tesi analizza il recente fenomeno del coworking, indagandone le origini e la diffusione sia in una prospettiva internazionale che nel contesto nazionale. L’obiettivo principale della ricerca è esaminare gli impatti relazionali del coworking sui lavoratori, evidenziandone i vantaggi e i limiti. Un’analisi approfondita è dedicata al rapporto tra coworking e smart working; un focus è dedicato alla loro evoluzione e alla loro reciproca influenza, considerando i cambiamenti generati nel mondo del lavoro dalla pandemia COVID-19. La parte empirica della tesi si concentra sul fenomeno del coworking nella città di Genova, un’area in cui attualmente sono presenti dodici spazi di coworking. La ricerca è stata condotta su un duplice livello. È stata sviluppata un’analisi preliminare attraverso fonti di secondo livello (siti web, documenti e informazioni tratte da quotidiani e riviste). Successivamente, un’indagine qualitativa basata su interviste condotte ai responsabili di tre spazi di coworking – Condiviso, COWO De Ferrari e Talent Garden – ha permesso di esaminare le loro strategie, obiettivi, attività e caratteristiche. L’analisi mira a comprendere in che modo questi luoghi promuovono lo sviluppo di relazioni professionali e sociali per i lavoratori, contribuendo al contempo alla valorizzazione della città di Genova.

This thesis analyses the recent phenomenon of coworking, investigating its origins and spread both from an international perspective and regarding the national context. The main objective of the research is to examine the relational impacts of coworking on workers, highlighting its benefits and limitations. A specific in-depth analysis is dedicated to the relationship between coworking and smart working; a focus is devoted to their evolution and mutual influence, considering changes generated in the world of work by the COVID-19 pandemic. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on the phenomenon of coworking in the city of Genoa, an area where there are right now located twelve coworking spaces. The research was conducted at a double level. A preliminary analysis was developed through second level sources (websites, documents and information from newspapers and journals). Then, a qualitative survey based on interviews carried out at three coworking spaces’ managers – namely Condiviso, COWO De Ferrari and Talent Garden – allowed to examine their strategies, goals, activities and features. The analysis aims to understand how these places promote the development of professional and social relationships for workers, while contributing to the enhancement of the city of Genoa.
