Abstract

Razionale: Il Morbo di Parkinson è una malattia neurodegenerativa cronica che progressivamente compromette le capacità motorie e cognitive del paziente, influendo negativamente sulla qualità della vita. Richiede un supporto costante che aumenta il carico assistenziale e la necessità di cure sul caregiver, portandolo spesso ad affrontare un carico emotivo e fisico elevato, accentuato dalla mancanza di conoscenze specifiche sulla patologia. In Italia, in base agli ultimi dati del Ministero della Salute, le persone colpite dal morbo di Parkinson sono circa 230.000, delle quali circa il 5% con un'età inferiore ai 50 anni, mentre il 70% ha un'età superiore ai 65 anni. Secondo le stime, a causa del crescente invecchiamento della popolazione generale, il numero di casi è destinato a raddoppiare entro il 2030. Obbiettivo: L’obiettivo di tesi è quello di individuare possibili strategie infermieristiche per supportare i caregiver dei pazienti affetti da Morbo di Parkinson ed alleviare il loro carico assistenziale. In particolare, si propone la realizzazione di una brochure informativa come strumento di educazione terapeutica, con l’intento di fornire conoscenze utili per affrontare la malattia in modo più consapevole, diminuendo gli stress psicologici e migliorando così la qualità della vita sia del caregiver che del paziente. Metodologia: Revisione integrativa della letteratura, effettuata tramite consultazione delle principali banche dati scientifiche (PubMed, Google Scholar). Risultati: Dalla revisione della letteratura emerge come il burden del caregiver sia una criticità sempre più diffusa in ambito sanitario, aggravato dalla mancanza di informazioni sulla patologia che diventa con il tempo sempre più ingestibile. Rationale: Parkinson’s disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder that progressively impairs the patient’s motor and cognitive abilities, negatively affecting their quality of life. It requires constant support, which increases the caregiving burden and the need for continuous care, often leading caregivers to experience significant emotional and physical strain. This burden is further exacerbated by a lack of specific knowledge about the disease. In Italy, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, approximately 230,000 people are affected by Parkinson’s disease, of whom about 5% are under the age of 50, while 70% are over the age of 65. Estimates suggest that, due to the general population’s increasing age, the number of cases is expected to double by 2030.

Objective: The aim of this thesis is to identify possible nursing strategies to support caregivers of patients affected by Parkinson’s disease and to alleviate their caregiving burden. In particular, the project proposes the creation of an informational brochure as a therapeutic education tool, with the goal of providing useful knowledge to help caregivers face the disease more consciously, thereby reducing psychological stress and improving the quality of life for both caregiver and patient.

Methodology: An integrative literature review was conducted through consultation of major scientific databases (PubMed, Google Scholar).

Results: The literature review highlights that caregiver burden is an increasingly prevalent issue in healthcare, worsened by the lack of information about the disease, which becomes progressively more difficult to manage over time. The use of nursing interventions focused on therapeutic education—especially when combined with visual aids such as brochures and leaflets—has proven fundamental in reducing stress, improving the quality of life of both patient and caregiver, and increasing awareness of the disease.
