Processo di indipendenza della Repubblica del Congo

Abstract

Il seguente lavoro nasce dalla volontà di comprendere il percorso che ha portato all’indipendenza della Repubblica del Congo nel 1960. Il primo capitolo esamina il contesto coloniale del Congo, analizzando il paese sotto la dominazione francese, lo sfruttamento delle risorse e l’imposizione del lavoro forzato. Il secondo capitolo è basato sulle prime richieste indipendentiste, in particolare l’influenza che la seconda guerra mondiale ha avuto su di esse. Una parte del capitolo è dedicata anche alle figure dei leader indipendentisti, alla costituzione del 1946 e al periodo di riforme previste dalla Loi cadre Deffere. Il terzo capitolo è basato sul cammino verso l’indipendenza, in particolare il referendum del 1958 e la proclamazione della Repubblica, la scelta dell’autonomia e del primo governo fino al raggiungimento ufficiale dell’indipendenza. Infine , il quarto capitolo si focalizza sulle sfide post-indipendenza, con la conferenza nazionale e la nascita del multipartitismo, l’elezione del primo presidente democraticamente eletto, e, infine, la prima guerra del Congo.

This work stems from the desire to understand the process that led to the independence of the Republic of Congo in 1960. The first chapter examines the colonial context of Congo, analyzing the country under French domination, the exploitation of resources, and the imposition of forced labor. The second chapter is based on the first independence demands, particularly the influence that the Second World War had on them. Part of the chapter is also dedicated to the figures of independence leaders, the 1946 constitution, and the reform period foreseen by the Fourth Republic's fall. The third chapter focuses on the path toward independence, especially the 1958 referendum and the proclamation of the Republic, the choice of autonomy, and the first government until the official attainment of independence. Finally, the fourth chapter focuses on the post-independence challenges, with the national conference, the rise of multiparty politics, the election of the first democratically elected, and, lastly, the first war of Congo.
