Abstract

Storia dell'RMS Olympic durante la Grande Guerra, con particolare attenzione alle truppe canadesi e al servizio di trasporto truppe svolto tra 1916 e 1918, a cui si aggiunse quello per i militari statunitensi: L'elaborato inizia nella Prima Parte con una breve storia dei primi mesi del CEF, passa poi all'ingresso in guerra degli Stati Uniti e alla guerra sottomarina tedesca. La Seconda parte inizia con la storia della nave prima della guerra e si menzionano i primi impieghi come trasporto truppe tra 1915 e 1916 nel Mediterraneo, i due capitoli successivi sono dedicati al servizio con i canadesi e con gli americani, per chiudere con una breve storia postbellica e una serie di appendici con una lista di unità imbarcate, grafici e fotografie

History of the RMS Olympic during the Great War, with particular attention to Canadian troops and the troop transport service carried out between 1916 and 1918, to which was added that for the US military: The paper begins in Part One with a brief history of the early months of the CEF, then moves on to the entry of the United States into the war and German submarine warfare. Part Two begins with the history of the ship before the war and mentions its first uses as a troop transport between 1915 and 1916 in the Mediterranean. The next two chapters are devoted to its service with the Canadians and Americans, concluding with a brief post-war history and a series of appendices with a list of units embarked, charts and photographs.
