Rischio di dipendenza da alcol e senso di appartenenza negli studenti universitari: un'indagine empirica

Abstract

Il periodo universitario rappresenta una fase di grande cambiamento per i giovani adulti, in cui desiderio di crescita personale e accademica si intersecano con pressioni sociali ed emotive. In questo contesto, il consumo di alcol appare un comportamento molto diffuso, spesso legato alla socializzazione e alle norme di conformazione ma anche come forma di disagio psicologico che può indurre a condotte a rischio. La letteratura scientifica ha messo in evidenza il ruolo del senso di appartenenza all’ambiente universitario, considerato come fattore che può incidere positivamente risultando in alcuni casi un forte fattore protettivo, ma anche negativamente se viene minacciato o se non presente. L’obbiettivo di questa ricerca è stato quello di analizzare la relazione tra il consumo di alcol e senso di appartenenza in un campione di studenti dell’Università di Genova, utilizzando il questionario PRISMA, analizzando la relazione tra i questionari AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) e ACU (Appartenenza alla Comunità Universitaria). Le analisi statistiche hanno evidenziato una correlazione negativa ma molto debole, tra le due variabili prese in considerazione, non presentando alcun dato statisticamente significativo. Nonostante le ipotesi suggerite dalla letteratura non siano state confermate, è importante riflettere sulla complessità di fattori che influenzano i comportamenti disfunzionali a rischio degli studenti. In particolare, sarebbe opportuno indagare su fattori come il supporto sociale, lo stress accademico e le strategie individuali di coping, per poter comprendere meglio le dinamiche del consumo alcolico nella popolazione universitaria.

The university period represents a phase of great change for young adults, in which the desire for personal and academic growth intersects with social and emotional pressures. In this context, alcohol consumption appears as a very widespread behavior, often linked to socialization and conformity norms but also as an expression of psychological distress that can lead to risky conduct. Scientific literature has highlighted the role of the sense of belonging to the university environment, considered a factor that can have a positive impact, sometimes acting as a strong protective element, but also a negative one if threatened or absent.

The aim of this research was to analyze the relationship between alcohol consumption and sense of belonging in a sample of students from the University of Genoa, using the PRISMA questionnaire and examining the relationship between the AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) and ACU (Belonging to the University Community) questionnaires.

Statistical analyses revealed a negative but very weak correlation between the two variables under consideration, with no statistically significant results. Although the hypotheses suggested by the literature were not confirmed, it is important to reflect on the complexity of factors that influence dysfunctional and risky behaviors among students. In particular, it would be appropriate to investigate factors such as social support, academic stress, and individual coping strategies, in order to better understand the dynamics of alcohol consumption in the university population.
