Ombre di Padri: identità, affetti e diritti nella paternità reclusa

Abstract

L’aggiornamento al 31 dicembre 2024 delle statistiche ufficiali del Ministero della Giustizia riporta un totale di 61.861 detenuti, a scapito di una capienza regolamentare prevista per 51.312 persone; dei 61.861 detenuti presenti, 27.939 sono genitori, padri o madri; dei 61.861 detenuti presenti, solamente 2698 sono donne, i restanti 59.163 sono uomini - circa il 95,6% della popolazione carceraria italiana. E il testo tratta di tutto ciò che sta dietro a quei numeri esorbitanti: la realtà sommersa dei padri che vivono dietro le sbarre, la complessità della vita di un genitore detenuto, lo spazio di tensione che si crea tra identità personale, legami affettivi e diritti negati, quando si è costretti ad incontrare i propri figli un’ora al mese, parlando loro al di là di un muro trasparente. Attraverso una prospettiva psicologico-sociale, il lavoro analizza come la detenzione, con tutti i suoi correlati, incida senza possibilità di limite sul ruolo paterno, sul rapporto famigliare, sul senso di sé e - da non dimenticare mai - sui figli che il padre aspettano di incontrarlo fuori dal carcere. La tesi porta alla luce una revisione sistematica della letteratura in riferimento e delle normative: tra le righe di testo il carcere si mostra palcoscenico di relazioni dimenticate, spezzate, ignorate; teatro di sentimenti nascosti, diritti disconosciuti e ruoli sopraffatti - nel tentativo di diffondere una conoscenza ancora troppo poco attenzionata dalla realtà sociale e dal senso comune.

The update to 31 December 2024 of the official statistics of the Ministry of Justice reports a total of 61,861 prisoners, at the expense of a regulatory capacity planned for 51,312 people; of the 61,861 prisoners present, 27,939 are parents, fathers or mothers; of the 61,861 prisoners present, only 2698 are women, the remaining 59,163 are men - approximately 95.6% of the Italian prison population. The text deals with everything that lies behind those exorbitant numbers: the submerged reality of fathers who live behind bars, the complexity of the life of a detained parent, the space of tension that is created between personal identity, emotional bonds and denied rights, when you are forced to meet your children for an hour a month, speaking to them beyond a transparent wall. Through a psychological-social perspective, the work analyzes how detention, with all its correlates, affects without any limit the paternal role, the family relationship, the sense of self and - never to be forgotten - the children who wait to meet their father outside prison. The thesis brings to light a systematic review of the relevant literature and regulations: between the lines of text, prison shows itself as a stage for forgotten, broken, ignored relationships; a theater of hidden feelings, disavowed rights and overwhelmed roles - in an attempt to spread a knowledge that is still too little paid attention to by social reality and common sense.
