Storie di migrazione e integrazione: Le donne latinoamericane nel contesto urbano di Genova

Abstract

La tesi è suddivisa in tre capitoli principali, ognuno dei quali affronta una dimensione specifica del tema di ricerca, costruendo un percorso che va dal quadro teorico e storico al lavoro empirico. Il primo capitolo offre un quadro generale del fenomeno migratorio, con un focus particolare sul caso latino-americano. Analizza l'evoluzione storica delle migrazioni dall'America Latina, evidenziando le cause e le trasformazioni dei flussi nel tempo per poi esplorare il legame tra migrazione e genere, con un'analisi della progressiva femminilizzazione dei flussi migratori e delle implicazioni sociali e culturali di questo fenomeno. Infine, si esamina l'evoluzione delle migrazioni in Italia, concentrandosi sul caso di Genova, città storicamente legata alla mobilità e oggi sede di un'importante comunità latino-americana. Il secondo capitolo è dedicato all'aspetto metodologico e descrive le principali fasi della ricerca scientifica, con particolare riferimento all'intervista come strumento qualitativo e all'analisi delle caratteristiche delle interviste qualitative, delle tecniche utilizzate e dei criteri adottati per la raccolta e l'interpretazione dei dati. Il terzo ed ultimo capitolo è interamente dedicato all'analisi empirica e presenta i risultati delle interviste svolte ad un target di donne latinoamericane tra i 18 e i 40 anni residenti a Genova, attraverso le quali vengono esplorate le dinamiche di integrazione nella società genovese del XXI secolo, evidenziando ostacoli, risorse, aspettative e strategie di integrazione nel contesto urbano. La tesi si propone quindi di fornire una lettura articolata e sensibile delle traiettorie migratorie e dell’integrazione delle donne in un territorio specifico, collocandole in una prospettiva storica, teorica e metodologica coerente.

The thesis is divided into three main chapters, each of which addresses a specific dimension of the research topic, building a journey from the theoretical and historical framework to the empirical work. The first chapter offers a general framework of the migration phenomenon, with special attention to the Latin American case. The historical evolution of migration from Latin America is analyzed, highlighting the causes and transformations of flows over time. Next, the link between migration and gender is explored, with an analysis of the progressive feminization of migration flows and the social and cultural implications of this phenomenon. Finally, the evolution of migration in Italy is examined, focusing on the case of Genoa, a city historically linked to mobility and today home to an important Latin American community. The second chapter is dedicated to the methodological aspect and describes the main stages of scientific research, with particular reference to the interview as a qualitative tool and to the analysis of the characteristics of qualitative interviews, the techniques used and the criteria adopted for the collection and interpretation of data. The third and last chapter is entirely dedicated to the empirical analysis and presents the results of the interviews carried out with a target group of Latin American women aged between 18 and 40 living in Genoa, through which the dynamics of integration in Genoa society in the 21st century are explored, highlighting obstacles, resources, expectations and integration strategies in the urban context. The thesis thus aims to provide an articulate and sensitive reading of the migration trajectories and integration of women in a specific territory, placing them in a coherent historical, theoretical and methodological perspective.
