Ebraismo e drammaturgia con particolare riferimento e analisi della figura del personaggio e/o autore di cultura ebraica

Abstract

Lo studio dell’elaborato si concentra sull’analisi del personaggio ebreo nella storia della drammaturgia. La prima parte studia e analizza, in un arco temporale che va dal quattrocento ai giorni nostri, l’evoluzione del personaggio ebreo a partire dallo stereotipo dell’usuraio e del vendicativo fino ad arrivare ad un personaggio contemporaneo completamente libero da qualsiasi “maschera”. I primi capitoli prendono in esame varie opere teatrali scritte da autori non ebrei: L’ebreo di Malta di Christopher Marlowe, Il mercante di Venezia di William Shakespeare, Il cavaliere avaro di Aleksandr Sergeevič Puškin, Ivanov di Anton Čechov, Shylock di Garreth Armstrong; i successivi capitoli si interessano della nascita del teatro ebraico e del teatro yiddish negli USA per poi addentrarsi in due opere composte da due drammaturghi di fede ebraica: Il Dibbuk di S.A. An-skij e The Convertible girl di Danny Simon. La seconda parte si occupa dell’analisi capitolo per capitolo dell’opera contemporanea intitolata Il penitente del drammaturgo statunitense David Mamet che ha come protagonista un medico ebreo coinvolto in un caso mediatico.

The thesis focuses on the analysis of the Jewish character in the history of dramaturgy. The first part studies and analyses, in a time that goes from the fifteenth century to the present day, the evolution of the Jewish character starting from the stereotype of the usurer and the vindictive up to a contemporary character completely free from any "mask". The first chapters examine various plays written by non-Jewish authors: The Jew of Malta by Christopher Marlowe, The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, The Miser Knight by di Aleksandr Sergeevič Puškin, Ivanov by Anton Čechov, Shylock by Garreth Armstrong; the subsequent chapters are interested in the birth of Jewish theater and Yiddish theater in the USA and then delve into two works composed by two Jewish playwrights: The Dibbuk by S.A. An-skij and The Convertible girl by Danny Simon. The second part deals with the chapter-by-chapter analysis of the contemporary work entitled The Penitent by the American playwright David Mamet which has as its protagonist a Jewish doctor involved in a media case.
