Schola collegii: le sedi delle corporazioni nella documentazione epigrafica dell'Italia romana tra il I sec. d.C. e il III sec. d.C.

Abstract

Il mio lavoro di tesi ha come tema quello di indagare la ricorrenza del termine schola nelle iscrizioni latine della penisola italica datate tra il I sec. a.C. e il III sec. d.C., individuando quali tra queste possano essere ricondotte all’ambiente di un collegium (RE II A, 1921, s.v. schola 4). Al catalogo precedono due capitoli introduttivi, uno relativo alla ricorrenza del termine nella testimonianza delle fonti letterarie e l’altro inerente alla classificazione delle scholae collegiorum in ambito archeologico, unito alla presentazione di un recente “case study”. Seguono le conclusioni con alcune proposte critiche, gli indici e la bibliografia.

My thesis aims to investigate the recurrence of the term schola in Latin inscriptions from the Italian peninsula dated between the 1st century BC and the 3rd century AD, identifying which of these can be attributed to the environment of a collegium (RE II A, 1921, s.v. schola 4). The catalog is preceded by two introductory chapters, one relating to the recurrence of the term in the testimony of literary sources and the other concerning the classification of scholae collegiorum in the archaeological field, along with the presentation of a recent "case study". The conclusions with some critical proposals, indexes, and bibliography follow.
