Differenze e analogie fra i costrutti mind mindedness, insightfulness e funzione riflessiva.

Abstract

La tesi esplora i diversi costrutti teorici alla base dei processi di mentalizzazione genitoriale, partendo dal costrutto di mind-mindedness, introdotto da Meins, e che si riferisce alla capacità del caregiver di considerare il bambino come un essere dotato di mente. La mind-mindedness riprende il concetto di sensibilità materna ed è considerata uno dei meccanismi della trasmissione intergenerazionale dell'attaccamento. L’insightfulness riguarda la capacità del caregiver di fornire una descrizione complessa del bambino e di adattare questa rappresentazione nel tempo. La funzione riflessiva, teorizzata da Fonagy e Target, è la capacità di comprendere e rispondere agli stati mentali degli altri, fondamentale per una relazione di attaccamento sicuro. La mentalizzazione, la capacità di interpretare le azioni proprie e altrui come derivanti da stati mentali specifici, è cruciale per la regolazione affettiva e lo sviluppo del sé. La tesi inoltre indaga come i processi di mentalizzazione materna possano essere influenzati da eventi traumatici durante la gravidanza.

The thesis explores the different theoretical constructs underlying parental mentalization processes, starting with the construct of mind-mindedness introduced by Meins, which refers to the caregiver's ability to consider the child as a being with a mind. Mind-mindedness builds on the concept of maternal sensitivity and is considered one of the mechanisms of the intergenerational transmission of attachment. Insightfulness refers to the caregiver's ability to provide a complex description of the child and adapt this representation over time. Reflective function, theorized by Fonagy and Target, is the ability to understand and respond to the mental states of others, which is fundamental for a secure attachment relationship. Mentalization, the ability to interpret one's own and others' actions as deriving from specific mental states, is crucial for emotion regulation and self-development. Additionally, the thesis investigates how maternal mentalization processes can be influenced by traumatic events during pregnancy.
