Incongruenza di genere: gli aspetti sociali e l'influenza degli stereotipi.

Abstract

L'argomento fondante della mia tesi è l'incongruenza di genere, ossia un'incongruenza marcata e persistente tra il genere sperimentato da un individuo e il sesso assegnatogli alla nascita a seguito delle sue caratteristiche biologiche (WHo, 2018). nel primo capitolo, dopo una breve introduzione dove ho esplicato in cosa consista l’ordine di genere e quali possano essere le conseguenze di esso, ho deciso di fare chiarezza su alcuni termini che molto spesso generano confusione e vengono utilizzati in modo inesatto, ma che dovrebbero invece essere conosciuti da tutti gli individui e utilizzati in modo corretto nella nostra realtà quotidiana. In seguito, l'elaborato si focalizza sulla definizione dell’incongruenza di genere, argomento fondante della mia tesi, offrendo anche un breve riferimento storico. Il secondo capitolo si concentra sull’argomento degli stereotipi di genere che vengono trasmessi agli individui fin dalla loro infanzia: il tema è trattato suddividendo i diversi contesti in cui tali stereotipi si apprendono e si riproducono; presento, inoltre, un’esposizione dei piccoli (ma comunque importanti) cambiamenti a livello sociale e giuridico verificatisi in tale ambito negli ultimi anni. In seguito, il terzo capitolo è dedicato a diverse interviste con persone che, in modi diversi, hanno avuto a che fare con l’argomento trattato. Concludo, infine, evidenziando l’importanza della diffusione di informazioni su questo tema, focalizzandomi in particolare sul ruolo che gli assistenti sociali potrebbero avere a tale scopo.

The foundational topic of my thesis is gender incongruence, which is a marked and persistent incongruence between the gender experienced by an individual and the sex assigned to them at birth based on their biological characteristics (WHO, 2018). In the first chapter, after a brief introduction where I explained what gender order consists of and what its consequences may be, I decided to clarify some terms that often generate confusion and are used inaccurately but should instead be known by all individuals and used correctly in our daily reality. Subsequently, the thesis focuses on defining gender incongruence, the foundational topic of my thesis, also providing a brief historical reference. The second chapter focuses on the topic of gender stereotypes that are transmitted to individuals from childhood: the theme is addressed by dividing the different contexts in which such stereotypes are learned and reproduced; I also present an exposition of the small (yet significant) social and legal changes that have occurred in this area in recent years. Following that, the third chapter is dedicated to various interviews with people who, in different ways, have dealt with the discussed topic. Finally, I conclude by highlighting the importance of spreading information on this topic, focusing in particular on the role that social workers could play for this purpose.
