La parrocchiale antica di Giucano. Analisi, conservazione e restauro

Abstract

La parrocchiale antica dei santi Fabiano e Sebastiano è un edificio di culto situato all’interno del cimitero del borgo di Giucano, in località Santa Burlanda nel comune di Fosdinovo (MS). La chiesa, le cui origini sono probabilmente riferibili al XIV secolo, ha conservato il ruolo di parrocchiale principale del borgo di Giucano fino alla costruzione di una nuova e più grande chiesa all’interno del paese stesso, durante i primi decenni del XVII secolo. La parrocchiale antica ha comunque continuato ad essere manutenuta e utilizzata saltuariamente almeno sino alla metà del secolo scorso. L’attuale stato di abbandono è conseguenza del crollo del di una parte del tetto, avvenuta agli inizi degli anni 2000. In questo lavoro di tesi sono state percorse le diverse fasi necessarie per arrivare a proporre un progetto di conservazione e restauro del bene, rispettoso dell’edificio e consapevole della sua qualità di monumento-documento. Dopo una prima fase di rilievo delle caratteristiche geometriche del manufatto, e conseguente restituzione, sono state indagate le tecniche costruttive che ne caratterizzano le strutture murarie portanti, in particolare nei paramenti esterni, incrociando il dato materiale con quanto emerso da una approfondita analisi della documentazione archivistica reperita. Il progetto di conservazione e restauro dell’edificio ha come obiettivo la maggiore conservazione possibile di quanto a noi pervenuto, limitando le eventuali integrazioni ai casi in cui queste siano strettamente necessarie per la conservazione stessa del manufatto, nonché per la sicurezza sia del bene stesso che dei suoi utenti.

The ancient parish church of saints Fabiano and Sebastiano is a place of worship located inside the cemetery of the village of Giucano, in the Santa Burlanda area in the municipality of Fosdinovo (MS). The church, whose origins probably date back to the 14th century, retained its role as the main parish church of the village of Giucano until the construction of a new and larger church within the town itself, during the first decades of the 17th century. The ancient parish church, however, continued to be maintained and used occasionally at least until the middle of the last century. The current state of abandonment is a consequence of the collapse of part of the roof, which occurred in the early 2000s. In this thesis work, were covered the different phases necessary to propose a conservation and restoration project for the property, respectful of the building and aware of its quality as a monument-document. After an initial phase of surveying the geometric characteristics of the artefact, and subsequent restitution, had been investigated the construction techniques that characterize the load-bearing wall structures, particularly in the external facings, by cross-referencing the material data with what emerged from an in-depth analysis of the documentation archival found. The conservation and restoration project of the building has as its objective the greatest possible conservation of what we have received from history, limiting any additions to cases in which these are strictly necessary for the conservation of the artefact itself, as well as for the safety of both the asset itself and of its users.
