Il ruolo dell'esercito nella politica turca e la sua evoluzione sotto Erdoğan

Abstract

L'obiettivo di questa tesi è identificare le motivazioni dietro il cambiamento del ruolo svolto dalle Forze Armate Turche all’interno della politica turca. Vengono analizzati i quattro interventi militari volti a difendere i principi kemalisti e le ragioni che hanno portato a tali interventi per comprendere le conseguenze che hanno avuto sul Paese e come sia stato possibile il processo di delegittimazione e indebolimento delle prerogative militari che ha caratterizzato l’era dell’AKP. Il colpo di Stato del 15 luglio 2016, vero e proprio punto di svolta per la recente politica turca, ha facilitato la trasformazione delle Forze Armate Turche in uno strumento della politica estera della Yeni Türkiye di Erdoğan e la possibilità di un utilizzo pratico al di fuori dei confini nazionali.

The aim of this thesis is to identify the motivations behind the change in the role played by the Turkish Armed Forces within Turkish politics. The four military interventions aimed at defending the Kemalist principles and the reasons that led to these interventions are analysed to understand the consequences they had on the country and how the process of delegitimization and weakening of military prerogatives that characterized the AKP era was possible. The coup d'état of July 15th 2016, as a real turning point for recent Turkish politics, facilitated the transformation of the Turkish Armed Forces into the instrument of Erdogan's Yeni Türkiye foreign policy and the likelihood of practical use outside national borders.
