Abstract

Questo progetto nasce come un timido omaggio alla cultura cinese che in questo caso assume il significato di “futuro”. Chin(ai)Taly già da titolo vuole esprimere il concetto di interdipendenza tra opposti: Italia, paese in cui sono cresciuto – il passato - e Cina, che grazie il programma a doppio titolo, diventa luogo di possibili opportunità – futuro. Due culture con storie diverse e all’apparenza agli antipodi, quella italiana e quella cinese, se unite creano, già dal lessico, Amore (Ai – 爱). Amore perciò diventa la parola chiave del progetto, che per quanto banale possa risultare, si impegna a descrivere in maniera “occidentale” quel meccanismo che muove tutto il mondo: l’”Amor che move il sole e le altre stelle”. Il progetto consiste nella realizzazione di una collezione di 8 capi e 4 accessori, presentati attraverso un mazzo di carte da poker, a cui ciascun seme è associato un tipo d’amore. Tra questi capi, Amore diventa sinonimo di Qi: quel eterno divenire, in costante movimento che descrive tutto l’Universo e tutte le sue componenti.

This project began as a little homage to Chinese culture, which in this case takes on the meaning of ‘future’. Chin(ai)Taly already from its title wants to express the concept of interdependence between opposites: Italy, the country where I grew up - the past - and China, which, thanks to the double degree programme, becomes a place of possible opportunities - the future. Two cultures with different histories and apparently at the antipodes, the Italian and the Chinese, when united they create Love (Ai- 爱), already from the lexicon. Love therefore becomes the key word of the project, which, however banal it may trivial as it may seem, strives to describe in a “western’ way that mechanism which moves the whole world: the ‘Love that moves the sun and the other stars’. The project consists of a collection with 8 looks and 4 accessories, represented through a deck of poker cards, with each suit associated with a type of love. Among these garments, Love becomes synonymous with Qi: that eternal becoming, in constant motion, which describes the whole Universe and all its components.
