Il mondo ebraico nell’Europa del Novecento. Tra antisemitismo e tensioni umanistiche.

Abstract

La Tesi si propone di indagare il mondo ebraico, nella Germania e nell’Europa tra la fine dell’Ottocento e la prima metà del Novecento. L’analisi guarda all’identità culturale degli ebrei-tedeschi coinvolti in quell’epoca in un processo di emancipazione e assimilazione, ma pure esposti all’oppressione e alle persecuzioni d’un sempre più feroce antisemitismo. Il lavoro si domanda quale (dis-)educazione all’odio abbia potuto ingenerare nel popolo tedesco la progressiva e massiva ostilità antiebraica, anche considerando il segno disumano che contraddistingue le politiche educative, le teorie e le prassi pedagogico-didattiche nella scuola del tempo. In ultimo, si ricostruiscono le vicende che, nel 1943, hanno riguardato le repressioni violente e gli stermini contro gli ebrei che dimoravano nel ghetto di Varsavia, soffermandosi sulla figura di Janusz Korczac la cifra umanistica (ebraica, ma universale) della sua pedagogica.

The Thesis aims to investigate the Jewish world, in the Germany and the Europe between the end of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century. The analysis looks at the cultural identity of the German Jews involved in a process of emancipation and assimilation, but also exposed to the oppression and persecution of an increasingly cruel antisemitism. The work asks what (mis-)education to hate could have generated the progressive and massive anti-Jewish hostility in the German people, also considering the inhuman sign that distinguishes educational policies, theories and pedagogical-didactic practices in the schools of that time. Finally, the events which, in 1943, concerned the violent repressions and exterminations against the Jews who lived in the Warsaw ghetto are reconstructed, focusing on the figure of Janusz Korczac and the humanistic (Jewish, but universal) essence of his pedagogy.
