Abstract

Questa tesi fornisce un'analisi approfondita dello stato attuale del Canale di Suez in termini di traffico in transito attraverso il Canale di Suez e delle sue prospettive future. Esamina la rilevanza storica del canale, il suo impatto economico sull'Egitto e il suo ruolo nel commercio globale. La tesi analizza anche le prestazioni del canale dopo il nuovo progetto di ampliamento del canale, completato e aperto nel 2015.

L'analisi si concentrerà sull'analisi degli ultimi 14 anni del canale, confrontando i sette anni che lo precedono dal 2009 al 2015 con i sette anni che lo seguono dal 2016 al 2022. Inoltre, presenterà l'impatto dell'aumento del transito delle navi attraverso il canale sulle entrate del canale.

La tesi analizza anche le sfide e le opportunità che il Canale di Suez dovrà affrontare in futuro, tenendo conto di fattori quali rotte alternative di navigazione, progressi tecnologici e instabilità geopolitica.

This thesis provides a comprehensive analysis of the Suez Canal's current state in terms of the traffic transiting through the Suez Canal and its future prospects. It examines the canal's historical significance, its economic impact on Egypt, and its role in global trade. The thesis also analyzes the performance of the canal after the new canal expansion project, which was completed and opened during the year 2015. The analyzes will focus on analysising of the last 14 years of the canal by comparing the seven years that precede the project from 2009:2015 with the seven years that follow the project from 2016:2022. In addition to presenting the impact of the increase in ship transit through the canal on the canal’s revenues. The thesis also analyzes the challenges and opportunities facing the Suez Canal in the future, considering factors such as alternative shipping routes, technological advancements, and geopolitical instability.
