Apache Solr Neural Search: un'analisi sulle potenzialità della ricerca semantica

Abstract

La ricerca semantica nasce con l’intento di superare le limitazioni dell'approccio lessicale, emulando alcuni processi e strutture della mente umana. Questo approccio si basa sul significato delle parole piuttosto che sulla loro occorrenza nel testo ed è in grado di considerare sfumature semantiche e contesto di utilizzo della parola per comprendere più a fondo l’intento dell’utente che esegue la ricerca. Per sfruttare al meglio queste potenzialità, è necessario comprendere il funzionamento generale e le caratteristiche che ne influenzano il rendimento. In questa tesi si affronta l’implementazione e l’analisi di efficienza e accuratezza della ricerca semantica applicata ad un ambito aziendale. Vengono delineate le basi teoriche che hanno supportato lo sviluppo e le scelte implementative, ed infine esposti i risultati ottenuti nelle varie fasi di test.

The semantic search tecnology emerges with the intention of overcoming the limitations of the lexical approach by emulating processes and structures of the human mind. This approach relies on the meaning of words rather than their occurrence in a text and is capable of considering semantic nuances and the context of word usage to better understand the user's search intent. To make the most of these capabilities, it is necessary to understand the general functioning and characteristics that influence its performance. This paper addresses the implementation and analysis of the efficiency and accuracy of semantic search applied to a business context. It outlines the theoretical foundations supporting the development and implementation choices. Finally, it presents the results obtained in the various testing phases.
