Il sex work online ai tempi della GIG Economy: educare alla sessualità

Abstract

Arrivati ai giorni nostri la precarietà è uno dei principali tratti distintivi dell’organizzazione del lavoro on-demand che viene gestito mediante piattaforme online, ossia la Gig Economy. Quest'ultima è considerata una forma di lavoro intermittente, con o senza obbligo di disponibilità del lavoratore nei confronti del datore di lavoro. Questa tipologia di lavoro ebbe un notevole sviluppo sopratutto a partire dalla diffusione di internet e del web, quella che viene definita industria 4.0. Strettamente connesso a questa tipologia di lavoro è il sex work online, che riguarda qualsiasi attività che preveda lo scambio di denaro o di beni in cambio di servizi e/o performance sessuali. Il termine “sex work" è preferito a "prostituzione" perché è più inclusivo e non stigmatizzante; descrive meglio la realtà diversificata del mercato del sesso e restituisce professionalità e dignità a lavori che la società normalmente condanna e considera degradanti. Purtroppo però l’introduzione di questo termine non basta a rimuovere lo stigma della prostituta, che etichetta la lavoratrice sessuale come donna non casta, schiava o criminale. Questo stigma diventa una definizione sociale e legale di una donna che è solo sospettata di essere o comportarsi come prostituta, e costituisce un ulteriore ostacolo al loro riconoscimento e al raggiungimento dei loro diritti. Questo background sociale mette in evidenza come certi argomenti non siano sufficientemente sensibilizzati, e questo a partire già dagli ambienti scolastici. Nasce quindi la necessità di un educazione sessuale che parta fin dalla nascita e che deriva da una più ampia concezione della sessualità che include la dimensione corporea e l’intimità. Al giorno d’oggi gli esperti dell'Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità sono stati guidati dall’evoluzione degli interessi dei bambini e dei ragazzi, al fine di creare un’educazione sessuale adeguata alle varie fasi di sviluppo dell'essere umano.

Coming to the present day, precarity is one of the main hallmarks of the organization of on-demand work that is managed through online platforms, i.e., the Gig Economy. The latter is considered a form of intermittent work, with or without the employee's obligation to be available to the employer. This type of work had a significant development especially since the spread of the internet and the web, what is called Industry 4.0. Closely related to this type of work is online sex work, which concerns any activity that involves the exchange of money or goods in exchange for sexual services and/or performance. The term "sex work" is preferred to "prostitution" because it is more inclusive and non-stigmatizing; it better describes the diverse reality of the sex market and restores professionalism and dignity to jobs that society normally condemns and considers degrading. Unfortunately, however, the introduction of this term is not enough to remove the stigma of the prostitute, which labels the sex worker as non-caste, slave or criminal. This stigma becomes a social and legal definition of a woman who is only suspected of being or behaving as a prostitute, and is a further obstacle to their recognition and achievement of their rights. This social background highlights how certain topics are not sufficiently sensitized, and this starting as early as school environments. Thus arises the need for sex education that starts from birth and stems from a broader conception of sexuality that includes the body dimension and intimacy. Nowadays, experts from the World Health Organization have been guided by the evolving interests of children and young people in order to create sex education appropriate to the various stages of human development.
