Educare alla sessualità attraverso i libri per l'infanzia

Abstract

Questo elaborato ha come obiettivo quello di informare sul ruolo che hanno i libri per l'infanzia nell'educazione sessuale ed emotiva, partendo da una spiegazione di quello che è il genere, del ruolo della donna e dell'uomo nella società, di come questo si riversi anche nei testi per i più piccoli. Una seconda parte è dedicata alla sessualità dei bambini, fortemente stigmatizzata ancora oggi, non accettata. La sessualità diventa un problema per gli adulti che tentano di proteggere i loro figli da qualcosa di totalmente naturale. La terza e ultima parte si focalizza sul tema principale dell'elaborato, ovvero i libri che trattano di educazione sessuale, del corpo e delle emozioni, di come possano aiutare i bambini a sentirsi meglio con sé stessi e a conoscersi e riconoscere le proprie emozioni. Non sono solo i bambini a beneficiarne, ma anche gli adulti che, attraverso la lettura condivisa di questi libri, hanno la possibilità di creare un rapporto più stretto con i bambini di cui si prendono cura. Purtroppo questi libri devono affrontare un'altra criticità, ovvero la censura. Non solo in America, non solo in passato, ma anche in Italia, ancora oggi, questi libri che tentato di educare e informare su temi fondamentali vengono ritirati da scuole e biblioteche. Educare bambini e adulti è fondamentale affinché ogni soggetto sia in grado di conoscere aspetti fondamentali che compongono ognuno di noi.

The aim of this paper is to inform about the role of children's books in sexual and emotional education, starting with an explanation of what gender is, the role of women and men in society, and how this is also reflected in texts for young children. A second part is devoted to children's sexuality, which is still strongly stigmatised and not accepted. Sexuality becomes a problem for adults who try to protect their children from something totally natural. The third and final part focuses on the main theme of the paper, namely books about sex education, the body and emotions, how they can help children to feel better about themselves and to know and recognise their emotions. It is not only children who benefit, but also adults who, through the shared reading of these books, have the opportunity to create a closer relationship with the children they care for. Unfortunately, these books face another critical issue, namely censorship. Not only in America, not only in the past, but also in Italy, even today, these books that attempt to educate and inform on fundamental issues are withdrawn from schools and libraries. Educating children and adults is fundamental so that each person is able to learn about fundamental aspects that make up each of us.
