MAZZINI E LA DEMOCRAZIA ETICA

Abstract

L’obiettivo dell’elaborato era quello di indagare sulla nascita della democrazia europea moderna e sui suoi fondamenti sociali, prendendo in esame uno dei pensatori che più si è occupato di questo argomento: Giuseppe Mazzini. Fondamentale per lo studio della politica del Genovese è stata la lettura di alcuni manuali dello storico del pensiero politico Salvo Mastellone, che a lungo e in maniera molto approfondita ha trattato questi argomenti. La tesi è stata strutturata in quattro capitoli che seguono l’ordine cronologico degli eventi e degli articoli che hanno maggiormente caratterizzato e influenzato il pensiero mazziniano. Partendo da un'introduzione storica, si passa all'evoluzione del pensiero di Giuseppe Mazzini prima e dopo il biennio rivoluzionario 1848/1849 confrontando la politica del pensatore italiano con le correnti politiche di spicco dell'epoca, come socialismo e comunismo. L'elaborato conclude interrogandosi su come il rivoluzionario genovese ha influenzato la democrazia e il sistema europeo odierno cercando aspetti della sua democrazia etica nell'ordinamento moderno.

The objective of the thesis was to investigate the birth of the modern European democracy and its social foundations, examining one of the thinkers who has dealt most with this topic: Giuseppe Mazzini. Fundamental for the study of the politics of the Genovese thinker was the reading of some manuals by the historian of political thought Salvo Mastellone, who dealt with these topics at length and in great depth. The thesis has been structured into four chapters that follow the chronological order of the events and articles that have most characterized and influenced Mazzini's thought. Starting from a historical introduction, we move on to the evolution of Giuseppe Mazzini's thought before and after the revolutionary two-year period of 1848/1849, comparing the politics of the Italian thinker with the leading political currents of the time, such as socialism and communism. The essay concludes by questioning how the Genovese revolutionary influenced democracy and today's European system by seeking aspects of his ethical democracy in the modern system.
