Abstract

La tesi di laurea "Shakespeare in 10 Things I Hate About You" è lo studio dell'influenza esercitata dalla commedia di William Shakespeare, La Bisbetica Domata, sulla pellicola di Gil Junger, affrontando approfondimenti come la questione femminista, di genere e l'importanza shakespeariana nel mondo cinematografico. Le analogie tra il film e la commedia permettono il confronto tra le due protagoniste, Kat Stratford e Katherina Minola, nelle due epoche storiche. Tuttavia, l'elemento centrale del primo capitolo è il dibattito della critica sulla natura femminista di 10 Things I Hate About You, e se questo possa definirsi un film al passo con i valori promulgati dalle nuove ondate di femminismo degli anni Novanta, o semplicemente un'altra buffonesca rappresentazione di un'adolescente statunitense.
