La figura di Michail Gorbačëv tra mito e realtà: la storia di un leninista che portò alla dissoluzione dell’Unione Sovietica.

Abstract

Il seguente elaborato ha come obiettivo l'analisi della figura di Michail Gorbačëv come uomo politico, fautore di cambiamenti epocali in Unione Sovietica, e protagonista della fine della guerra fredda con la dissoluzione dell'URSS, concentrandosi sulla dissonanza tra Russia e Occidente nel raccontarlo. Questo lavoro di ricerca si propone di ripercorrere la vita dell'ultimo segretario generale dell'URSS, soffermandosi sugli eventi più significativi e gli incontri più memorabili che ne influenzarono la visione, fino a giungere all'analisi delle sue politiche e dello sviluppo dei rapporti con l'Occidente. La tesi si articola in quattro capitoli, i quali si soffermano rispettivamente: sulla vita di Michail Gorbačëv, sul suo approccio alle politiche interne e internazionali e infine sulla dissoluzione dell'Unione Sovietica. Il primo capitolo si concentra sul percorso di crescita che portò Gorbačëv ad avvicinarsi alla politica, analizzando l'entrata nella MGU, nel PCUS e gli incontri che influenzarono le sue idee. Il secondo capitolo sposta la sua attenzione sulla figura di Gorbačëv come uomo politico, affrontando lo sviluppo e la nascita delle sue riforme, la perestrojka e la glasnost', e il loro impatto in URSS e nelle Repubbliche Socialiste, evidenziandone anche lacune e debolezze. Il terzo capitolo si dedica invece alle vicende internazionali e ai rapporti sviluppati tra Gorbačëv, Margaret Thatcher e Ronald Reagan, evidenziando la singolarità di un tale personaggio al vertice dell'Unione Sovietica, dimostrando anche il suo spirito occidentale e la conseguente accettazione di compromessi per giungere ad accordi con gli Stati Uniti sul nucleare, che potessero in qualche modo dare inizio a un disgelo nei rapporti tra le due superpotenze. L'ultimo capitolo analizza l'epilogo della storia di Gorbačëv, con la dissoluzione dell'URSS e le inevitabili conseguenze non solo in Russia, ma a livello internazionale, esaminando le mancanze delle sue riforme e del suo pensiero.

The following paper aims to analyze the figure of Mikhail Gorbachev as a politician, a proponent of epochal changes in the Soviet Union, and a protagonist of the end of the cold war with the dissolution of the USSR, focusing on the dissonance between Russia and the West in telling it. This research work aims to retrace the life of the last Secretary General of the USSR, dwelling on the most significant events and the most memorable meetings that influenced his vision, to the analysis of its policies and the development of relations with the West. The thesis is divided into four chapters, which focus respectively on the life of Mikhail Gorbachev, his approach to internal and international policies and lastly on the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The first chapter focuses on the path of growth that led Gorbachev to approach politics, analyzing his entry into the MGU, the CPSU and the meetings that influenced his ideas. The second chapter focuses on Gorbachev as a politician, dealing with the development and birth of his reforms, perestroika and glasnost, and their impact in the USSR and the Socialist Republics, also highlighting their shortcomings and weaknesses. The third chapter, on the other hand, deals with international events and the developed relations between Gorbachev, Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan, highlighting the singularity of such a figure at the summit of the Soviet Union, it also demonstrated its Western spirit and the consequent acceptance of compromises to reach agreements with the United States on nuclear power, which could somehow start a thaw in relations between the two superpowers. The last chapter analyzes the epilogue of Gorbachev’s history, with the dissolution of the USSR and the inevitable consequences not only in Russia, but internationally, examining the shortcomings of his reforms and thinking.
