Le principali criticità della supply chain del settore automobilistico nel triennio 2020-2022: l'impatto del Covid-19 e della guerra in Ucraina

Abstract

Negli ultimi anni il settore automobilistico ha dovuto affrontare diverse problematiche riguardanti la propria catena di approvvigionamento a causa di una serie di eventi inaspettati, dal lockdown in seguito alla diffusione del COVID-19 fino all’inizio della guerra in Ucraina. L’evoluzione del mercato a l’aumento di domanda hanno portato questo importante settore a dover capire al meglio quali materiali diventano più cruciali per poter intervenire prontamente lungo la catena di approvvigionamento. L’obiettivo di questo studio è quello di comprendere come è cambiata la criticità di alcuni gruppi di beni all’interno della supply chain del settore automobilistico. A questo proposito, la domanda per la seguente ricerca è: quali sono i beni maggiormente influenzati dagli eventi accaduti e per quale motivo sono stati impattati? Per rispondere alla domanda è stata utilizzata la matrice di Kraljic, per determinare come sono cambiate nei tre anni dell’analisi sia l’importanza strategica del bene, sia la complessità del mercato. Entrambe sono aumentate per ciascuno dei beni considerati, questo fa capire come sia diventato più critico ricercare un modo per avere una corretta gestione di questi materiali e beni. Ricerche future potrebbero considerare come si è evoluta la supply chain del settore negli anni successivi all’analisi e se le criticità riscontrate sono state contenute o meno.

In recent years, the automotive sector has had to face several challenges regarding its supply chain due to a series of unexpected events, ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdown to the onset of the war in Ukraine. Market evolution and increased demand have compelled this significant industry to better understand which materials have become more crucial in order to promptly intervene along the supply chain. The aim of this study is to comprehend how the criticality of certain groups of goods within the automotive sector's supply chain has changed. In this regard, the question driving this research is: which goods have been most affected by the above mentioned events, and why have they been impacted? To answer this question, the Kraljic matrix has been employed to determine how the strategic importance of the goods and the market complexity have changed over the three years of analysis. Both have increased for each of the considered goods, underscoring the heightened urgency of finding proper management approaches for these materials and goods. Future research could explore how the sector's supply chain has evolved in the years following this analysis and whether the identified criticalities have been mitigated or not.
