Donne, dall'antica Grecia ad oggi: tra ruoli e violenze, come vennero rappresentate nella mitologia?

Abstract

Questa tesi ha lo scopo di analizzare in prima battuta ciò che concerne la violenza di genere nella società attuale: la domanda principale sarà quindi cosa essa comprenda e significhi, per poi viaggiare nello studio dei dati statistici che la circondano. Essa ci racconta delle donne e di quello che ogni giorno molte di esse devono subire, essendo vittime spesso inascoltate di compagni che si mostrano alla società con un aspetto totalmente differente da quello che indossano in casa propria. L'analisi intrapresa verterà anche su ciò che porta questi uomini ad una vita fatta di violenze, e quali sono i comportamenti che più spesso si possono riconoscere in loro. Successivamente verrà fatto un salto nel passato, analizzando ciò che invece accadeva nella società Greca, per comprendere a fondo quello che le donne dovevano quotidianamente subire. Loro erano viste soprattutto in quanto mogli ed in quanto madri, ma cosa accadeva a quelle donne che - per un motivo o per l'altro - non avevano intenzione di rimanere all'interno di questi schemi? A quale destino sarebbero andate incontro uscendo dalle regole a loro imposte? Il loro ruolo doveva sottoporsi a rigide regole, sociali e relazionali, che erano molto differenti dalle regole a cui dovevano sottostare gli uomini. La violenza era inoltre vista in una maniera molto differente a quell'epoca, non c'era la stessa attenzione verso la stessa che abbiamo oggi, e questo sarà motivo di studio. Infine, lo studio della mitologia Greca rivelerà tutto ciò che le statistiche e le analisi da sole non possono mostrare, in quanto essa può raccontarci ben più di una serie di storie di pura fantasia, ma ha l'abilità di trasporre ciò che per i Greci era quotidianità e pensiero comune. Questo viaggio terminerà quindi analizzando le violenze che permeano alcuni dei miti più importanti che ad oggi ci sono stati tramandati, grazie a storie che tutt'oggi sono per noi cardine della mitologia.

This thesis aims to analyse, in the first place, what concerns gender-based violence in today's society: the main question will therefore concern what it includes and means, and it will after travel between studies of statistical datas. It tells us about women and what most of them have to go through everyday, often being unheard victims of partners that show themselves to society with a completely different look from what they wear in their own home. The undertaken analysis will also focus on what leads these men to a life made of violence, and what are the behaviors that more often can be recognized in them. Later on, a leap in the past will be made, analysing what happened in Greek society instead, to fully understand what women had to daily bear. They were seen mostly as wives and mothers, but what happened to those who - for one reason or another - had no intention of remaining within these schemes? What fate would they meet, breaking the rules they were forced to follow? Their role had to submit to strict social and relational rules, which were very different from the ones that men had to submit to. Furthermore, violence was seen in a much different way at that time, there wasn't the same attention towards it as we have today, and this will be a reason for study. Finally, the study of Greek mythology will reveal us everything that statistics and analysis alone can't show, as it can illustrate us much more than a series of a fantasy stories, but it has the ability to transpose what for the the Greeks was everyday life and common thought. This journey will therefore end analysing the violences that permeates some of the most important myths that have been handed down to us today, thanks to stories that are for us the cornerstone of myhtology.
