Il trauma infantile:il ruolo dell'Assistente Sociale.

Abstract

La mia tesi intende trattare il tema del trauma infantile e del ruolo dell’Assistente Sociale che affronta questo tipo di casi. Nella prima parte di natura più descrittiva ho voluto fornire una descrizione del trauma infantile che considera aspetti come la definizione, i dati statistici, il tipo di maltrattamento e mi sono soffermata sul tema della famiglia maltrattante che agisce comportamenti pericolosi ed avversi per il minore che invece necessiterebbe di un contesto familiare adeguato in grado di assicurare sicurezza, cura e protezione. Ho trattato poi dei diversi fattori di rischio che può presentare un nucleo familiare e dei fattori di protezione che può essere utile sviluppare e ho concluso la prima parte descrivendo la dissociazione e il Disturbo da Stress Post Traumatico nello sviluppo come conseguenze del fenomeno traumatico. Nella seconda parte di natura più operativa tratto del ruolo dell’Assistente Sociale che si occupa di eventi traumatici per il bambino. Il ruolo dell’operatore è quello di fornire, in primo luogo, protezione al minore che vive una situazione pericolosa per la sua incolumità e di lavorare per garantire un contesto che sia adeguato e funzionale al suo sviluppo. Il ruolo poi si sostanzia anche in un sostegno della famiglia e delle sue fragilità nell’ottica di supportare il recupero delle capacità genitoriali quando è possibile, di responsabilizzare i genitori con cui lavora e poter così promuovere, attivare e sostenere un cambiamento nella situazione con effetti positivi sia per il nucleo che per il minore. Studiare e poter approfondire il ruolo dell’Assistente sociale mi ha permesso di considerare non solo l’aspetto negativo legato all’evento traumatico, ma anche la prospettiva di poter aiutare una persona e generare un cambiamento positivo e concreto.

My thesis aims to address the topic of child trauma and the role of the social worker dealing with this type of case. In the first part of a more descriptive nature, I wanted to provide a description of childhood trauma that considers aspects such as definition, statistical data, type of maltreatment, and I focused on the topic of the abusive family that acts dangerous and adverse behaviors for the child who would instead need an adequate family context that can ensure safety, care and protection. I then discussed the different risk factors that a family may present and the protective factors that may be useful to develop, and I concluded the first part by describing dissociation and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in development as consequences of the trauma phenomenon. In the second part of a more operational nature I discuss the role of the social worker dealing with traumatic events for the child. The Social Worker’s role is to provide, first and foremost, protection for the child experiencing a situation that is dangerous to his or her safety and to work to ensure a context that is appropriate and functional for his or her development. The role then also takes the form of supporting the family and its fragilities with a view to supporting the recovery of parenting skills when possible, empowering the parents with whom he or she works and thus being able to promote, activate and sustain a change in the situation with positive effects for both the family and the child. Studying and being able to deepen the role of the Social Worker has allowed me to consider not only the negative aspect related to the traumatic event, but also the perspective of being able to help a person and generate a positive and concrete change.
