Rapporto Manipolazione e Intelligenza Artificiale

Abstract

Scegliere il tema della tesi è stato facile e spontaneo… non avevo dubbi, volevo discutere su uno degli argomenti fondamentali della Scienza Politica: la manipolazione. È affascinante immaginare come sia presente nella vita di tutti i giorni sia negli ambiti più ristretti e vicini a noi come la scuola e la famiglia, come in quelli più ampi, vedi la politica, le relazioni con i propri colleghi o col tuo superiore. Quando si parla di manipolazione si pensa subito a qualcuno che influenza il pensiero e le azioni di un’altra persona. Quello che magari potrebbe sfuggirci dallo studio, può essere la modalità del processo, infatti, il tutto avviene indirettamente, senza che la persona manipolata sia cosciente del fatto di subirla. È una forma di imposizione del proprio potere, celandolo. Per questo motivo non la si deve confondere con la persuasione, la forma aperta del potere: in quanto avviene esplicitamente, senza filtri mettendo a conoscenza anche la persona persuasa. L’argomento della manipolazione trova una forte relazione con l’intelligenza Artificiale (AI). La tecnologia ha modificato il nostro essere, crea nuovi spazi che abitiamo e nuove forme di agire e inconsapevolmente rinunciamo al controllo delle nostre scelte per agevolarci nelle nostre attività. Ma come realmente vengono influenzate le nostre vite? L’intelligenza artificiale è sempre più presente nelle nostre vite e attraverso algoritmi i dati che mettiamo in “rete”, consapevolmente e in parte inconsapevolmente, vengono utilizzati per migliorare prodotti o servizi, ma il resto diviene un surplus comportamentale privato, sottoposto a un processo di lavorazione per essere trasformato al fine di indirizzare i comportamenti umani verso nuovi fini. Si introduce dunque il tema del capitalismo della sorveglianza che si appropria dell’esperienza umana, usandola come materia prima da trasformare in dati sui comportamenti, utilizzando strumenti dei quali il mondo è “avvolto”.

Choosing the topic of the thesis was easy and spontaneous... I had no doubt, I wanted to discuss one of the fundamental topics of Political Science: manipulation. It is fascinating to imagine how it is present in everyday life both in the most narrow and close to us areas such as school and family, as in the wider ones, see politics, relationships with your colleagues or with your superior. When we talk about manipulation we immediately think of someone who influences the thought and actions of another person. What could possibly escape us from the study, may be the mode of the process, in fact, everything happens indirectly, without the manipulated person being aware of the fact of undergoing it. It is a form of imposition of one’s own power, concealing it. For this reason it must not be confused with persuasion, the open form of power: in so far as it happens explicitly, without filters, making the persuaded person also aware. The subject of manipulation finds a strong relationship with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Technology has changed our being, it creates new spaces that we inhabit and new forms of acting and we unknowingly give up control of our choices to facilitate our activities. But how our lives are really affected. Artificial intelligence is increasingly present in our lives and through algorithms the data that we put in "network", consciously and in part unknowingly, are used to improve products or services, but the rest becomes a private behavioral surplus, subjected to a processing process to be transformed in order to direct human behavior towards new ends. It introduces the theme of capitalism of surveillance that appropriates human experience, using it as raw material to be transformed into data on behavior, using tools of which the world is "wrapped".
