Il contributo di Mario Albertini negli studi sul federalismo europeo

Abstract

Per comodità, in questo elaborato si esporranno nel primo e nel secondo capitolo le linee teoriche del pensiero di Albertini: i) nel primo, si affronterà l’analisi della definizione del concetto di nazione, caratterizzata, come si vedrà, dalla difficoltà di determinarla con precisione, ma prima di fare ciò si tratterà della gioventù di Albertini nell’Italia fascista. Si proseguirà con l’osservazione dell’epoca a cui risale la nascita dei primi sentimenti nazionali, sino ad arrivare allo studio del cosiddetto ‘secolo dei nazionalismi’, ossia quella parte di storia che va dalla seconda parte del diciannovesimo secolo alla prima parte del ventesimo; ii) nel secondo, si vedrà come Albertini analizza il superamento dello Stato nazionale, per poi osservare come intende teoricamente strutturare e organizzare la lotta per la federazione europea, dunque il rapporto tra i militanti e l’opinione pubblica. Dopo questi due capitoli, nei quali si evincerà il notevole contributo teorico di cui si parlava sopra, si potrà meglio comprendere la natura delle azioni pratiche che caratterizzarono la sua militanza, riportate, queste ultime, nel terzo capitolo: qui si tratteranno e distingueranno le due fasi dell’esperienza che ebbe nel federalismo europeo. Si anticipa già che nella seconda fase, egli portò i federalisti, nel periodo tra il 1978 e il 1989, alla rilevanza politico-sociale nel panorama italiano ed europeo. Una rilevanza tale si era riscontrata precedentemente solo con la figura di Spinelli, nel periodo che va dalla resistenza al nazi-fascismo sino a quello della caduta della CED.

In the first and second chapters will be exposed the theoretical lines of Albertini's thought: i) in the first chapter, the analysis of the definition of the concept of nation will be addressed, characterized, as we will see, by the difficulty of determining it with precision, but before to doing this we will deal with Albertini's youth in fascist Italy. It will continue with the observation of the era to which the birth of the first national sentiments dates back, up to the study of the so-called 'century of nationalisms', that is, that part of history that goes from the second part of the nineteenth century to the first part of the twentieth ; ii) in the second, we will see how Albertini analyzes the overcoming of the nation state, to then observe how he intends theoretically to structure and organize the struggle for the European federation, therefore the relationship between militants and public opinion. After these two chapters, in which the notable theoretical contribution mentioned above will be deduced, it will be possible to better understand the nature of the practical actions that characterized his militancy, reported, the latter, in the third chapter: here we will discuss and distinguish the two phases of the experience he had in European federalism. It is already anticipated that in the second phase, he brought the federalists, between 1978 and 1989, to political-social relevance in the Italian and European panorama. Such a relevance had previously been found only with the figure of Spinelli, in the period that goes from the resistance to Nazi-fascism up to that of the fall of the CED.
