In a context marked by the growing spread of the Internet and changing patterns of media consumption, television has undergone a profound transformation. This evolution has also affected local and community broadcasters, which have increasingly become instruments for informing and representing local communities. This research examines the social role of local television, focusing on the case of Tele Ponte di Legno, a broadcaster established in Alta Valle Camonica and conceived and developed by Romano Rizzi. The aim is to analyse the relationship between media and community, with particular attention to the ability of local television to construct and convey identity, memory and a sense of belonging, while adapting information to the needs of a specific territory. The case is examined in relation to the social and territorial context of Alta Valle Camonica, an area that, since the second half of the twentieth century, has undergone processes of transformation and reduced marginality, also linked to the development of tourism. The analysis focuses on the broadcaster’s communication practices, its local roots, and the autonomous form of media production represented by Rizzi’s experience. The first chapter provides an overview of local television in marginal areas; the second examines the case study through documentary sources and first-hand testimonies; the third analyses the relationship between the broadcaster, the political participation of the valley’s inhabitants, and the formation of support around the Il Grande Sogno project. The research shows how local television can function not only as a means of information, but also as a space for participation, identity building and social innovation.en_UK
