This thesis examines the role of music as a tool for territorial narration and informal education, starting from a conception of territory not as a mere physical space, but as a complex, dynamic and socially constructed reality. The aim is to investigate how music, through lyrics, sounds, images and collective practices, can contribute to the representation of places, the construction of territorial identities and the understanding of the social dynamics that shape them. The study adopts an interdisciplinary approach combining geographical, sociological and educational perspectives. The first chapter explores the concept of territory as a social construction and the principles of education to territory, focusing on territorial values, cultural heritage, sense of belonging and active citizenship. The second chapter examines the relationship between music and territory through the perspective of cultural geography, introducing the concept of soundscape and analysing the role of music and musical events in transforming spaces and producing meanings and identities. National and international case studies also show how music can convey forms of social criticism and identity claims. The third chapter focuses on the Ligurian music scene, comparing the historical tradition of the Genoese singer-songwriter school, represented by artists such as Fabrizio De André and Gino Paoli, with the contemporary languages of the urban music scene through artists such as Olly, Tedua and Sayf. This comparison highlights both continuities and transformations in the ways Genoa and the Ligurian territory are represented and narrated. The analysis ultimately considers music as an educational resource capable of promoting a critical and conscious understanding of territory, bringing to light identities, differences, forms of marginalisation and senses of belonging that may not be immediately visible.en_UK
