A ship is a highly complex system; for it to function, its numerous constituent elements must work together effectively to ensure the vessel meets the shipowner's requirements. Consequently, the design process is structured precisely around this principle: once the ship's main characteristics have been established based on the client's needs, a "design spiral" is followed. In this process, each component of the ship system undergoes iterative sizing—repeatedly refined—until the final specifications are determined. This Bachelor's thesis focuses on completing the first loop of this design spiral, resulting in an initial estimate of the ship's specifications. The vessel in question is a product carrier, designed to transport liquids (such as refined or semi-refined hydrocarbons) in its cargo tanks. As is common practice in naval architecture, the design is developed based on an existing vessel: the *Four Sky*.en_UK
