The objective of this thesis is to study the profile losses of a low-pressure turbine (LPT) cascade for aeronautical engines under different operating conditions. The experimental analyses were carried out at the Aerodynamics and Turbomachinery Laboratory of the University of Genoa, in both steady and unsteady regimes, in order to simulate the interaction between stator and rotor. By means of wall static pressure taps and total pressure probes, the aerodynamic loading and the profile losses were evaluated at the midspan of the blade cascade. The results obtained for the different operating conditions were subsequently compared, in order to identify the effect of the Reynolds number on the development of the boundary layer on the blade suction side and on the formation of a separation bubble, resulting in an increase in energy losses. Such information is fundamental for the optimization of the stage and, consequently, of the whole component (LPT), thus contributing to improving the performance of the aeronautical engine.en_UK
