This thesis explores the relationship between narrative criminology, humor, and identity construction in the context of drug dealing. Drawing on the perspective of narrative criminology, the study focuses on the role of narratives in the production of meaning, the construction of identity, and the interpretation of criminal experiences by the individuals involved. From this perspective, crime is not viewed solely as a set of observable behaviors, but also as a phenomenon that is constructed and reinterpreted through stories that shape individuals’ perceptions of themselves and their actions. Particular attention is devoted to the figure of the drug dealer, who is often represented in the collective imagination through stereotypes emphasizing dangerousness, deviance, and social marginality. Within this theoretical framework, humor is examined as a particularly significant narrative resource. Jokes, irony, and self-irony emerge as tools through which individuals reinterpret experiences characterized by risk, illegality, and uncertainty, creating emotional distance from events, strengthening a sense of belonging, and making potentially stigmatizing situations more manageable. The aim of this research is not to assess the truthfulness of these narratives, but rather to understand the functions they perform in processes of identity construction, risk management, and the moral renegotiation of criminal experience. The thesis shows how humor represents a relevant component of narratives related to drug dealing, contributing to the production of meaning and to a deeper understanding of the complexity of criminal experience.en_UK
