This thesis analyses the visual power of the well-known manifesto “We can do it!”, focusing on its history, the misconceptions that have arisen over time and the subsequent re-significations. The aim is to investigate the original meaning of the image and the sociocultural processes that led to the construction of the icon Rosie The Riveter. Through careful bibliographical and sitographic analysis, the text highlights a clear tripartite division between the manifesto's original message, the historical significance generated by social effects, and contemporary resignification. In conclusion, the case study demonstrates the intrinsically dynamic nature of images within visual culture, which can change meaning depending on the context and communicative objectives.en_UK
