This thesis analyzes the profound evolution of the imagery surrounding sea travel, tracing its transition from twentieth-century cinematic representations to the modern dynamics of digital and tourism communication. Starting from the narrative archetype of the ocean liner and the myth of the Titanic, the research explores how the ship was originally encoded by the silver screen as a space of isolation, rigid social division, and inevitable tragedy, relegating the audience to a purely passive role. The study then highlights the radical reversal of this paradigm driven by escapist marketing and contemporary naval architecture, which have progressively transformed the means of transport into an autonomous "resort city" geared entirely towards entertainment. Finally, the thesis investigates the revolutionary impact of social networks and new audiovisual languages on maritime imagery. Through the analysis of branded entertainment strategies and vertical micro-storytelling practices carried out by content creators, the work demonstrates how the contemporary traveler has fully become a prosumer. Constant interaction, the use of irony, and the pursuit of narrative authenticity have radically rejuvenated the image of the cruise industry, transforming the sea from a scenario of fatality into a global, interactive, and participatory media set.en_UK
