Iconografia delle Muse: casi di studio nella pittura genovese

Abstract

L’obiettivo di questo studio è stato quello di redigere un censimento riguardo gli affreschi aventi come soggetto le Muse nel contesto genovese. In primo luogo, la mia ricerca si è basata sull’individuazione delle opere all’interno delle dimore aristocratiche genovesi per poi approfondire ogni singolo caso tramite ricerca bibliografica. Una volta fatto ciò, il materiale raccolto è stato organizzato nelle schede che compongono il secondo capitolo della tesi. Il primo capitolo è stato impostato con la funzione di introdurre la figura delle Muse. Si è parlato della loro origine e dei loro nomi attraverso le fonti letterarie antiche, per poi approfondire la storia iconografica di questo soggetto partendo dall’antica Grecia fino ad arrivare all’epoca moderna. La ricezione del soggetto delle Muse nel contesto genovese costituisce l’argomento principale dell’ultimo capitolo.

The objective of this study was drafting a census regarding the frescoes that portray the Muses in the genoese environment. Firstly, my research was based on identifying the works of art in the aristocratic residences, then I deepen each case through bibliographic research. Once this has been done, the collected material has been organized in the cards forming the thesis second chapter. The first chapter introduces the figure of the Muses. Speaking about their origins and their names through ancient literary sources, then I deepen the iconographic history of this subject starting from ancient Greece to modern age. The reception of the Muses subject in the genoese environment constitutes the principal topic of the last chapter.
