Lo sviluppo socio-emotivo del bambino: il ruolo della famiglia nel processo educativo

Abstract

La presente tesi analizza lo sviluppo socio-emotivo del bambino dalla nascita all'età scolare, con particolare attenzione al ruolo della famiglia nel processo educativo. Il primo capitolo esamina le tappe evolutive nelle tre fasi principali: prima infanzia (0-3 anni), età prescolare (3-6 anni) ed età scolare (6-10 anni), descrivendo come il bambino progredisca da una totale dipendenza dall'adulto verso strategie autonome di regolazione emotiva. Il secondo capitolo approfondisce le principali teorie di riferimento: la teoria dell'attaccamento di Bowlby e Ainsworth, che evidenzia come la qualità del legame precoce sia il predittore più robusto della futura competenza emotiva, e i modelli di Saarni, Denham e Cole sulla competenza socio-emotiva e la regolazione affettiva. Viene inoltre analizzato il Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), approccio evidence-based che integra lo sviluppo emotivo nel curricolo scolastico con effetti positivi documentati su rendimento e benessere. Il terzo capitolo traduce le evidenze teoriche in indicazioni operative, esaminando il ruolo dell'emotion coaching genitoriale, l'alleanza educativa tra scuola e famiglia e l'approccio multidisciplinare — esemplificato dal Programma P.I.P.P.I. — come strumenti per sostenere i bambini in situazioni di vulnerabilità. La tesi conclude che garantire a ogni bambino condizioni relazionali e affettive adeguate è una responsabilità condivisa tra famiglia, scuola e comunità.

This thesis examines the socio-emotional development of children from birth through school age, with particular focus on the role of the family in the educational process. The first chapter traces the developmental stages across three key phases: early childhood (0-3 years), preschool age (3-6 years), and school age (6-10 years), describing how children progress from total dependence on caregivers toward increasingly autonomous emotional regulation strategies. The second chapter analyses the main theoretical frameworks: Bowlby and Ainsworth's attachment theory, which identifies the quality of early relational bonds as the strongest predictor of future emotional competence, alongside Saarni, Denham, and Cole's models of socio-emotional competence and affective regulation. The Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) approach is also examined as an evidence-based framework that integrates emotional development into school curricula, with documented positive effects on academic achievement and well-being. The third chapter translates theoretical findings into practical guidelines, exploring parental emotion coaching, the educational alliance between school and family, and the multidisciplinary approach — exemplified by the P.I.P.P.I. Programme — as tools to support children in vulnerable situations. The thesis concludes that ensuring adequate relational and affective conditions for every child is a shared responsibility among family, school, and community.
