Orixás: al confine tra religione e magia

Abstract

Questa tesi si concentra sullo studio della storia e delle caratteristiche delle religioni sincretiche afroamericane, con l'obiettivo di portare alla luce questa realtà spesso sconosciuta. Si parte dall'Africa, affrontando la schiavitù e le tratte di esseri umani, per poi arrivare in Brasile ed assistere ad una rigenerazione culturale e spirituale. Vengono dunque analizzati i frutti del sincretismo religioso con una particolare attenzione riservata al Candomblé, le cui divinità, tradizioni e riti vengono descritti nel dettaglio. Vi è infine una piccola riflessione su quanto questa religione, per quanto ancestrale, contenga ideologie quantomai attuali.

This thesis focuses on the study of the history and characteristics of African American syncretic religions, with the aim of bringing this often unknown reality to light. We start from Africa, facing slavery and human trafficking, to then arrive in Brazil and witness a cultural and spiritual regeneration. The fruits of religious syncretism are then analyzed with particular attention paid to Candomblé, whose divinities, traditions and rites are described in detail. Finally, there is a small reflection on how much this religion, despite being ancestral, contains very current ideologies.
