Abstract

Progettare materiali educativo-didattici è uno degli aspetti più affascinanti che costituisce la professione dell’educatrice d’infanzia. Può risultare essere l’ultimo anello dell’importante catena che contraddistingue l’agire educativo, ma, in realtà, spesso è il valore aggiunto che unisce la creatività di una professionista con i bisogni educativi di bambini e bambine all’interno di un servizio per l’infanzia. I materiali educativi hanno una loro collocazione e un loro scopo ben preciso. Affinché possano essere progettati e utilizzati con correttezza ed efficacia, è necessario che rispettino determinate caratteristiche, che facciano parte di una cornice progettuale più ampia e siano uno strumento di qualità all’altezza della curiosità, degli interessi e delle abilità dei bambini e delle bambine. Come può accadere questo? Quali sono gli strumenti che un’educatrice ha a disposizione per poter progettare un materiale educativo-didattico? A quali conoscenze è possibile attingere? La fascia d’età che va dagli 0 ai 3 anni è un periodo dello sviluppo estremamente variegato, che vede cambiamenti fisiologici, motori e cognitivi repentini e unici nel loro esordio, per questo estremamente preziosi. Ognuna delle tappe di sviluppo affrontate dai bambini in questo periodo, permette all’educatrice di orientarsi nelle sue proposte educative come se fossero, le stesse tappe di sviluppo, il perfetto curricolo verticale da seguire. Sarà uno degli scopi di questa tesi andare ad approfondire lo sviluppo psicomotorio dell’essere umano dai 3 mesi ai 3 anni, col fine di sviluppare consapevolezza e basi scientifiche che possano accompagnare le scelte educative e didattiche nella cura dei bambini e nella gestione di uno spazio per l’infanzia.

Designing educational and didactic materials is one of the most fascinating aspects of the early childhood educator’s profession. It may appear to be the final link in the important chain that characterizes educational practice; in reality, however, it is often the added value that connects the creativity of a professional with the educational needs of children within an early childhood setting.

Educational materials have a specific place and a clearly defined purpose. In order for them to be designed and used correctly and effectively, it is essential that they meet certain criteria, that they are part of a broader planning framework, and that they represent a high-quality tool, capable of responding to the curiosity, interests, and abilities of children.

How can this be achieved? What tools does an educator have at their disposal to design an educational-didactic material? Which bodies of knowledge can be drawn upon?

The age range from 0 to 3 years represents an extremely diverse period of development, characterized by rapid and unique physiological, motor, and cognitive changes, which are therefore particularly valuable. Each developmental milestone encountered by children during this period allows the educator to orient their educational proposals, as if those very developmental stages constituted the ideal vertical curriculum to follow. One of the aims of this thesis is to explore human psychomotor development from 3 months to 3 years of age, with the goal of fostering awareness and establishing a scientific foundation capable of supporting educational and didactic choices in the care of children and in the organization of early childhood environments.
