IL RUOLO DELLA FISIOTERAPIA NEL PERCORSO ASSISTENZIALE DEL PAZIENTE CON NEOPLASIA POLMONARE: DALLA DIAGNOSI ALLE CURE PALLIATIVE

Abstract

La patologia neoplastica polmonare figura tra le principali cause di mortalità a livello mondiale[1], caratterizzata da elevata complessità sia diagnostica che terapeutica. Questo risulta essere un contesto in cui il ruolo della fisioterapia assume un’importanza crescente nel percorso assistenziale del paziente, a partire dall’identificazione della malattia fino a giungere alle cure palliative[6,13,15]. Con questa tesi mi ripropongo di analizzare le diverse fasi di intervento fisioterapico, con particolare attenzione alla fisioterapia respiratoria, alla preabilitazione e riabilitazione post-operatoria, nonché all’approccio nelle fasi avanzate della malattia[5,12,17,19]. Questo elaborato inoltre evidenzia l’importanza dell’integrazione del fisioterapista all’interno del team multidisciplinare oncologico[2,11], sottolineando il ruolo nella funzionalità respiratoria, nella qualità della vita e nella gestione dei sintomi come la dispnea e la fatica[8,16]. Attraverso una revisione critica della letteratura scientifica e l’analisi di protocolli riabilitativi attuali, la tesi sottolinea il valore dell’intervento fisioterapico personalizzato e continuativo. Si conclude ribadendo come la fisioterapia rappresenti un elemento chiave nel supporto globale al paziente con neoplasia polmonare, capace di promuovere un’assistenza più efficace, umana e centrata sulla persona[15].

Lung cancer represents one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide^1, characterized by high complexity both in diagnosis and treatment. This is a context in which the role of physiotherapy is increasingly relevant within the patient care pathway, starting from the identification of the disease up to palliative care[6,13,15]. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the different stages of physiotherapeutic intervention, with particular focus on respiratory physiotherapy, prehabilitation and postoperative rehabilitation, as well as approaches in advanced stages of the disease[5,12,17,19]. Furthermore, this work highlights the importance of integrating the physiotherapist within the multidisciplinary oncological team[2,11], emphasizing their role in respiratory function, quality of life, and the management of symptoms such as dyspnea and fatigue[8,16]. Through a critical review of the scientific literature and the analysis of current rehabilitation protocols, the thesis underscores the value of personalized and continuous physiotherapeutic intervention. In conclusion, physiotherapy is reaffirmed as a key element in the global support of patients with lung cancer, capable of promoting more effective, humane, and patient-centered care[15].
