Abstract

La famiglia rappresenta da sempre una delle istituzioni più importanti presenti all’interno della società. Nel corso della storia ha mantenuto delle caratteristiche che risultano essere costanti ma, nonostante questo, ha subito diverse trasformazioni ed è cambiata in maniera profonda: nei differenti periodi storici, il concetto di famiglia ha assunto significati differenti, significati che venivano assunti in base ai mutamenti sociali, economici e culturali delle diverse epoche storiche: dal considerare il modello della famiglia patriarcale il modello più forte all’interno della società, si è passati al modello della famiglia nucleare affermatosi con l’industrializzazione, fino alle nuove forme di famiglia dell’era contemporanea, mettendo in mostra il fatto che la famiglia si è adattata alle esigenze e alle sfide del proprio tempo.

The family has always represented one of the most important institutions within society. Over the course of history it has maintained characteristics that appear to be constant but, despite this, it has undergone various transformations and has changed profoundly: in different historical periods, the concept of family has taken on different meanings, meanings that were taken on based on changes social, economic and cultural aspects of different historical eras: from considering the model of the patriarchal family the strongest model within society, it moved on to the nuclear family model established with industrialization, to the new family forms of the contemporary era, showcasing the fact that the family has adapted to the needs and challenges of its time.
